Closing date comin’, still lookin’, still be bookin’
Eight-hunnid-thou homes, but I just have six, f*ck it,
The whole world can suck it, I’m a solo-dad now, how?
Where the f*ck is God now? (wow)
Father be bold, but da devil wins gold, Thou has forsaken
My house says sold, I was mistaken
Earth be quakin’, hey nurse, dis multiverse, cursed
For better or for worse, I do, but she don’t (damn)
I do, but she don’t (damn)

Rich n*gga, broke phone (ah)
Tryna keep the balance, I’m stayin’ strong (ooh)
Stop playin’ with me ‘fore I turn you to a song (yeah)
Stop playin’ with me ‘fore I turn you to a song (ooh)
Ayy, bitch, I’m attractive (ah)
Can’t f*ck with you no more, I’m fastin’, ugh (ooh)
B*tch, I’m attractive (ah, ah, ah, ah)
Can’t f*ck with you no more, I’m fastin’, ugh

The packagin’ can wait
Sound off, they not hearin’
Four-day hustlin’ is safe for my mentality
Deez buds got no taste, ask Meve, time to pray
Church, what a waste, Joel ‘n’ Steve, go away
Be dat as it may, dis
Mustard-seed-o-faith, sh*t doesn’t stray
The trendin’ gamer, unda fiddy hall-o-famer
Praise Shu, Jim Ryan be a f*ckin’ Kramer
Roe v. Wade mean da right to choose, ya
Why e’rything gotta be da same, ugh
Der go Jenny wit Draco, so I holla
Gas for my ride eatin’ up e’ry dollar
Love is a b*tch, I be cryin’, I’m so sick
Lost theology in my-deology
sis be trippin’, where my apology
offer date sh*t, dis can’t be it, smokin’ out da window
I can’t quit
So damn sick of it (damn)
So damn sick of it, ayy (ooh)

Rich n*gga, broke phone (ah)
Tryna keep the balance, I’m stayin’ strong (ooh)
Stop playin’ with me ‘fore I turn you to a song (yeah)
Stop playin’ with me ‘fore I turn you to a song (ooh)
Ayy, bitch, I’m attractive (ah)
Can’t f*ck with you no more, I’m fastin’, ugh (ooh)
B*tch, I’m attractive (ah, ah, ah, ah)
Can’t f*ck with you no more, I’m fastin’, ugh

My Dadda, hey Dadda, look at dat Dadda
Time to go to school, wake up Dadda
Sunny day, can we go out and play Dadda?
What did I say? I have to behave, Dadda
My Dadda, hey Dadda, look at me Dadda
Eat. But I need to watch TV, Dadda
It’s Sunday. Time to see Mommy, Dadda
I love you. I’ll see you mid-week, Dadda

I pray to God cuz He knows best so trust and you will see
I pray to God this too shall pass, He’ll vindicate for me
I pray to God to open doors and manifest my dreams
Three of us, in it for her, and her in it for me
I pray to God to get here fast cuz dis world is doomed
We all threats, we just can’t get ourselves to read da room
When will we learn, is it ok to sing dis tune?
Fiddy claps, hunnid follows, please come back soon

Rich n*gga, broke phone (ah)
Tryna keep the balance, I’m stayin’ strong (ooh)
Stop playin’ with me ‘fore I turn you to a song (yeah)
Stop playin’ with me ‘fore I turn you to a song (ooh)
Ayy, bitch, I’m attractive (ah)
Can’t f*ck with you no more, I’m fastin’, ugh (ooh)
B*tch, I’m attractive (ah, ah, ah, ah)
Can’t f*ck with you no more, I’m fastin’, ugh

  1. Broken Spirit is not an official remix of Kendrick Lamar’s song, Rich Spirit. I’m not affiliated with him, his producers, or his record label. I’m strictly a hip-hop fan, and this is fan art.
  2. If you wish to rap along here’s the instrumental to get the full experience. You’ll need to know Kendrick’s flow and pacing for this song very well in order for the words to sync with the melody, but it’s not exactly one-to-one. I even get tongue-twisted when things speed up in the second verse, so try to do your best and have fun with it.
  3. The verses in Broken Spirit were remixed and written by me and reflect the recent events of my life. The themes include my marriage/separation, becoming a solo dad, selling my house, job sh*t, politics, and religion.
  4. Kendrick Lamar wrote the chorus. The original song, Rich Spirit, can be listened to on SoundCloud or your favourite music streaming service.
  5. If you haven’t listened to Kenrick’s new album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, you’re f*cking up!

My dear non-black humans: If you’re a fan of hip-hop music, that’s great. Keep advocating and celebrating the culture. Keep singing, but be advised that the N-word is off-limits to you, period. Even in song. Stop. Do not pass Go! There’s no debate here. It doesn’t matter if you’re just singing lyrics. You know the derogatory nature of that word, so grow the f*ck up and get that word out of your vocab, or I’ll ask my Uncle Will (Smith) to pay you a visit.
